The UCKG has started a new focus on faith aimed at all those who are tired of hiding from their problems and never achieving success in their endeavours.
Grasping the torches in their left hands and holding in their right hands the trumpets they were to blow, they shouted, “A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!”
“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about… But now the LORD has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.” (Judges 6:13)
This was the bold statement made by Gideon, an Israelite, when the Lord spoke to him. He had such a spirit of revulsion against the situation that even God appearing to him and calling him a ‘mighty warrior’, could not appease him. He had enough of the humiliation, he was tired of hiding in caves and he was fed-up with being called a follower of God when the enemy was always victorious. Gideon’s faith qualified him before God. His boldness saved the Israelites from a miserable existence.
The UCKG has started a new focus on faith called the Campaign of Israel. It is aimed at all those who are tired of hiding from their problems and never achieving success in their endeavours. It’s for those people who say ENOUGH is ENOUGH!
Today, Gideon’s words can easily be re-phrased in this way: Pardon me God, if you are with me:
- why am I still unemployed?
- why am I still sick?
- why does my life not change?
- why does everything I do fail?
- why is my family unhappy and falling apart?
