Why Mount Hermon?

Why did Jesus choose Mount Hermon to be transfigured? Why did he only choose Peter, James and John as witnesses? Jesus did not say anything that was unnecessary, He did not think about nonsense, He did not pay attention to futile or vulgar things, He did not walk around aimlessly, He did not have personal interests, He was not curious, this is, He did not waste time with banalities. When choosing Peter, James and John to follow Him to the summit of Mount Hermon, He knew what He was doing. His choice was not random and He was not worried if the others would feel hurt or resentful. Instead,
because of His well-defined objective, He chose what was to be chosen and did what needed to be done. Later, Peter would testify, saying: "For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain." 2 Peter 1.16-18 The same happened when He chose Mount Hermon. Why not chose the Mount of Olives, which He loved so much? Or Mount Carmel, where He heard the prayer of His servant, the prophet Elijah, and responded with fire? And why not the Mount of Beatitudes, where He taught the secrets of eternal life? Why did He chose Mount Hermon, Israel's highest and most difficult mountain to climb? This answer is found in Psalm 133, which says: "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing – life forevermore." When choosing Mount Hermon, the Lord Jesus wanted to attract the attention of His disciples to what it represents, which is described in the Prophetic Psalm. It is prophetic because it speaks of unity, harmony and perfect peace among the children of God in the Kingdom of Heaven. It accurately portrays the picture of God's family gathered around His throne. Who called out: Behold! How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity? The Holy Spirit may have given David the vision of God’s family around His throne, just like the Lord Jesus gave the vision of Revelation to John on Patmos. And before that exuberant vision, David shouted out in joy: Behold! How good and how pleasant it is for the sons of God to dwell together in unity around the Throne. But if it was not David who expressed such joy, it was certainly God the Father, Himself. He expresses His joy and delight in seeing His children, fruit of the sacrifice of Jesus His first born, around Him. The joy is so great that there are not enough words to express it. This is why it is necessary to compare: It is like the precious oil upon the head... This precious oil upon the head represents the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the form of a physical anointing. It is something that can only be comprehended by those who have experienced this one day. It is like the dew of Hermon... The dew of Mount Hermon is the three sources of water that form three rivers, which come together and form the Jordan River. Mount Hermon is currently responsible for the water supply to all of Israel. In those days, water was like gold, the greatest wealth of a community. Cities were built around wells. Water is life, it is impossible to live without its existence. When the Author of Life portrays his pleasure as the dew of Hermon that descends upon the mountains of Zion, He is portraying the fullness of life that His children enjoy in His presence. Mount Hermon is a sanctuary that is invisible to the eyes of the wicked. It is only visible and revealed to the chosen ones, because of its grandeur and spiritual importance. No wonder the Lord Jesus chose it from among the others. After all, from it, God commands the blessing and life forevermore. The transfiguration of Jesus on this Mountain shows His will to see His followers also be transfigured. This is, transformed according to the Glory of God, to hear the same voice of the Father, saying: "You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." New men and women. Heavenly children, who bear the image and likeness of the Almighty, like Adam and Eve before sin.
